Texas Officials Make Historic Visit to Valaurum Headquarters
Delegation Sees Modern Texas Redbacks Minted in Real Time
In December 2025, Valaurum proudly partnered with the Texas Comptroller’s Office, as well as the Texas Bullion Depository (TxBD) to introduce Modern Texas Redback Gold bills. As the first precious metal bills ever issued by a U.S. state, these gold bills represent a groundbreaking moment for the State of Texas, collectors’ access to gold, and the unique technology of Aurum® gold bills. Modern Texas Redback Gold bills were created by the Texas Bullion Depository, Lone Star Tangible Assets, and Valaurum working together to harness the most advanced technology in precious metals developed by Valaurum.
TxBD Modern Texas Redback Gold bills are revolutionary within the 2,500-year-old precious metals industry, with gold deposited atom-by-atom on each bill using microscopic precision and patented Aurum technology. The state of Texas has historically been at the forefront of liberty, independence, and technological innovation. As the 8th largest economy worldwide, Texas is home to major global businesses across multiple industries. In addition, Texas is one of the fastest-growing states in America, with a population approaching 32 million people. These factors present an excellent opportunity to tap into the state’s ongoing economic growth and provide a uniquely Texan investment tool, while ensuring that these precious metal investments remain within the local Texas economy.
Texas Officials Visit Valaurum
Last month, Valaurum welcomed a delegation from the State of Texas to our state-of-the-art production facility. This group of officials included Matthew Ferris, Managing Director at Lone Star Tangible Assets (LSTA); Kimberly Ferris; and David Cruz, Deputy Administrator, Texas Bullion Depository. These honored guests experienced a private tour of our manufacturing space, a live demonstration of Aurum security features, and an opportunity to preview upcoming Aurum releases. When viewing the bills’ artwork up close, they found the historical imagery of the Alamo particularly striking. We thoroughly enjoyed connecting with these visitors and discussing the future of Modern Texas Redback Gold bills.
About Modern Texas Redbacks
The initial set of bills is available in 5, 20, and 100 centigram quantities of gold, making them highly desirable value sizes for Texans to purchase gold. These commemorative bills are issued by the Texas Bullion Depository, an agency of the State of Texas government. The commemorative bills are not intended as and are not legal tender but serve as officially authorized products of the state to commemorate Texas’ history and culture and to promote the depository and its services. Each Modern Texas Redback Gold Bill features the Official Seal of the State of Texas, as well as signatures from both Texas Governor Greg Abbott and then Acting Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Kelly Hancock for the 2025 series. The soon-to-be-released 2026 series will carry the signatures of Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Texas Comptroller Don Huffines.
Each bill includes artwork and symbols that showcase the grit, resilience, and rich history of the state. The 5cg Modern Texas Redback Gold Note displays a mighty Texas longhorn steer, harkening back to the state’s proud tradition of cattle ranching. These animals symbolize independence, one of the state’s guiding principles. 20cg Modern Texas Redback Gold Notes have an image of the Texas State Capitol in Austin, as well as a view of the inside of the Capitol rotunda. Finally, the 100cg Modern Texas Redback Gold Note includes an image of the Alamo, accented by the State Flag of Texas blowing in the breeze. As the site of a pivotal 1836 battle in San Antonio, the Alamo symbolizes both courage and the unbreakable Texas spirit. The Alamo and the four missions that surround it are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the onsite museum welcomes millions of visitors each year.
Advanced Technology
Texas Bullion Depository Modern Texas Redback Gold Notes include several of the standard Aurum security elements that buyers have come to trust. In addition, all bills in this series include the State Seal of Texas printed in UV ink, as well as hidden numbers indicating the bill’s denomination. Both of these hidden elements glow brightly under UV light but are completely imperceptible otherwise.
